On Scene Review: StatGear: T3 Tactical Triage & Auto Rescue Tool Knife

About our Reviewer: I’m Scot A. Kreger PHRN. I started in EMS in 1984 as an Army Medic stationed at Ft. Ritchie, Md. While serving at Ft. Ritchie I obtained my Emergency Medical Technician.  Shortly after my discharge from the Army 1987 I became a Paramedic . In 2004 I graduated from Delaware County Community College with my Nursing Degree and started working at Brandywine Hospital. After 2 years of working in the Emergency Department I transferred to Medic 93 where I currently work for BWH.  So all told I have 30 years Emergency Medical Service experience. 

The StatGear T3 Tactical Triage and Auto Rescue Tool is the perfect addition to any EMS, Fire or Tactical Team member’s equipment. It comes in a heavy duty nylon sheath for carrying on your belt. The tool also comes with a belt clip for clipping anywhere on your person that you wish to carry it.  

I, myself like the nylon sheath feature with its heavy duty snap for carrying the tool on my belt.  This tool comes with everything you should need to cut clothing, rope, or even a seatbelt. It has a 3 to 4 inch blade that is partially serrated, and on the other side a seatbelt cutter. The knife is great for cutting rope and O2 tubing, it can even be  good for cutting shoe strings, but be careful, I wouldn’t use it to cut clothing off anyone.  

At one end of the tool you’ll find a spring loaded window punch perfect for quickly accessing most car windows. On the other end is a small yet bright 5 Lumen LED light great for lighting up small area like a cars glove box while looking for information yet not so bright that you can’t use it for checking pupil responses.  I’ve used the light when trying to start an IV in a dark house, and it puts out just enough, but isn’t too bright to hurt a patients eyes when trying to check pupil response. 

Even though this tool is small, it is also rugged and fits perfect in anyones hands.  I’d recommend the StatGear T3 Tactical Triage & Auto Rescue Tool Knife for any Fire/EMS, Police or Tactical Member.
